Baby fleas are tiny insects commonly known as the “flea larvae.” They are whitish and have no legs. The central portion of a baby flea consists of a small head. At this stage, baby fleas don’t suck blood. However, flea larvae are found near places where your pets sleep.

Baby fleas exist in terms of a blob, and then they become cocoons. Baby fleas go through different stages to become adult fleas.

What Baby Fleas Look Like

Baby fleas undergo different stages of larvae, where the larva starts like a tiny worm. These larvae become pupae by spinning cocoons. Now, the cocoon emerges and becomes an adult flea. These worm-like baby fleas usually hide near nooks and your pet’s bedding.

These baby fleas are dark-colored and small but visible to the naked eye, while sometimes they may seem white at the earlier stages. The larvae feed on dead animals, feces, and different vegetable materials. These baby fleas are blind as they can not see and hide in a dark place to get less exposure to the sunlight.

That’s why their removal becomes impossible. Then the larva turns into the pupa, the intermediate state between an adult flea and a nymph. The size of a baby flea is less than 1/4th of an inch.

It is commonly believed that baby fleas are hazardous, but they are not. However, they can give an unusual and disturbing irritation to young kids. It can also give a red bump to your infant’s skin, but it goes away. Baby fleas don’t have legs, so they can’t travel a long way. One way to identify baby fleas is to thoroughly check the pet’s bedding, where you will come across white spots and black spots, which are baby fleas with their feces.
