Camping and being outside are two of our least favorite things to do, and mosquitoes are certainly one of our least favorite things about them, especially when they bite us! Nothing is more frustrating than trying to enjoy a campfire or a nice picnic dinner at your campsite only to have to swat them away every few minutes. 

Mosquitoes and sand fleas are the two most common pests that I’m referring to here. Fill a spray bottle halfway with Listerine and start spraying away! Make sure to spray your work site as well as yourself, your children, and your pets! In addition to smelling better than regular bug spray, the mint is just as effective, if not more effective than regular bug spray! 

The best part is that there are no harmful chemicals used! The treatment for sand fleas is a little more difficult, but this method has proven effective for campers in the past. pour the Pine-Sol directly into the other spray bottle and spray the area around your campsite (DO NOT SPRAY THE PETS OR Children unless you are using the eucalyptus, and if you have pets or young children, it is best to use eucalyptus because it will get on their paws or hands when walking or crawl This will keep sand fleas away from that area, and you won’t have to deal with those itchy little bites on your legs!

What about Pine-Sol? The findings of keeping mosquitoes away apply to concentrated pine oil; however, what about Pine Sol? The scent of pine permeates the entire product. Is pine oil present in this product?

Unfortunately for those looking to make their own fly repellent spray at home, the answer is “it depends.”

Original Pine Sol, a pine oil-based cleaner that was widely used at the time, contained between 8 and 12 percent pine oil, along with other ingredients.
