Yes, alcohol can kill spiders. However,  it’s not as easy as it sounds. Alcohol is known for certain toxic effects that it can have on animals and insects and also the human body. In fact, alcohol can cause animals and insects to get sleepy, lose consciousness, and even die. However, this doesn’t happen instantly or as fast as one would like. So, even though alcohol could kill a spider, it will eventually take some time for the spider to die.

The  issue is that it will take some time for the spider’s body to fully digest the alcohol. At the same time, the alcohol can pretty much disable spiders in only a few short minutes. So, that spider might not be moving around as it usually would. It would then take possibly several hours before the spider dies.

Studies have been done on alcohol and animals. Yes, there is some toxicity in alcohol that can negatively affect spiders, animals, and insects. Alcohol can cause animals to have depression, seizures, less cognitive capabilities, organ damage, and even death. Alcohol will pretty much cause spiders to have a slow death as opposed to a quick one. So, even though you can use alcohol to slow down or kill spiders, it’s not the best solution. All of these have to be taken into consideration. Your best option is to use chemicals or spider repellents.
